One of the coolest places we have ever been is Mont Saint-Michel. Located on a rocky island on the coast of Normandy the island is full of history – religious. political, conquests oh my! We were lucky enough to stay overnight on the island and enjoy the evening with out the numerous tourists that are bussed in daily. In the afternoon as the buses depart the island takes on a different character and you are able to appreciate this island sanctuary for what it is. Oh, and if you do stay overnight make sure your car is parked in the correct lot as the tides have been known to sneak up unsuspectingly.
On the way there we stopped for some lunch and enjoyed the view.
There is one narrow cobblestone street that circles up to the abbey at the top.
The doors open to a garden at the top – an amazing place and well worth adding to our itinerary.
