The truth is I have became allergic to work – light work, heavy work, easy work, all work – it just doesn’t seem to agree with me. I quit my job in early May, to improve my health (HAHA), and now I’m a house husband and expert house packer upper! I am really excelling at house husband, even though I’ve had to be careful not to upset my newfound allergy! But seriously, we have been planning to take a two year sabbatical for quite a while and it hasn’t been easy to make it happen. We are at a crossroads in our life as the kids have moved across the country and have left us here in Texas with less and less to keep us here ….. well, except all of y’all who we have a sneaking suspicion will find us somewhere down the path. If a grandchild arrives we may be relocating anyway ….. so, as Mark Twain famously said:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
We are taking the next two years to Explore. Dream. Discover. We will be hitting the road on June 5th headed toward Palo Duro Canyon near Abilene and then northward through Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and into Canada. Then over to Vancouver down through Washington, Oregon, California before heading back towards Texas for our annual Thanksgiving family tradition. Of course everything is tentative and we’ve taken up the motto “if your not sure where you’re going, any road can get you there!”
Up next: One door closes….
