It was a royal pain in the ass to plan the trip (trying to align flights and accommodations) but we were able to use mileage for the airfares, including inter-island, so were pleased about that. To get the trip to work we arrived at nearly midnight in Honolulu (stayed inside the airport) and caught a 5 o’clock flight to Hilo, on the Big Island, where we picked up our car, did some grocery shopping and then headed out to our condo about 60 miles away. All went well, but we didn’t catch much sleep. No matter, we are on island time now. Aloha!

Good Morning from our Lanai

Whale slapping its tail in the distance.

The condo is beautiful and we have an unobstructed view of the ocean (and the sunrise) from our Lanai. The hot tub rocks, the pool is saltwater and we plan to use them every evening! The resort is on the southern end of the island about 60 miles from both of the main cities of Hilo and Kona. We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere but being away from the crowds is a big plus for us. We have one of the Hawaii Revealed books and we are eager to explore it all.
