“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” – Lao Tzu
Having exhausted the National Parks that we could reasonably do because of the weather, we decided to go to Europe. It seems you can spend only three months in the EU without a visa – so three months it is! After much research, we discovered flights into Milan to be the least expensive. And, the planning commenced.
For the first leg we explore Italy including two days in Milan, three days on the Cinque Terre, a day trip to Pisa, three days in Florence, a night in Orvieto, six days in Rome, and then fly to Barcelona for three days.
Following which we make our way to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, to begin our Camino. We will be backpacking 500 miles over 31 days to Compestella de Santiago. This is a major bucket list item for us and we are super excited to have the opportunity to pursue it. Oh, and bonus, our son, Bryan, has decided to accompany us!!!
The last 30 days have not been planned as of yet, but we are considering touring the south of Spain by rental car and then onto another country or two. Or three.
