We hadn’t intended to visit Yoho National Park but its proximately to Banff made it an easy side trip and while hiking with another couple we learned of a must see waterfall. We love waterfalls!
The steam trains and the Spiral Tunnels are a big deal historically for this park so we stopped first to check out the interpretive exhibits and let Skyler play around in the mock tunnel just like the other kids.
We did love the Takakkaw Falls, one of the highest falls in Canada, as it is a spectacular sight its waters thundering some 833 feet to the base. It was an easy hike that allowed us to take Skyler, although she was a little jumpy when we reached the base of the spray. Truth be told, she probably wanted a swim!
Because of the shear size of the falls, it wasn’t easy taking pictures with the Nikon zoom lens but we were not to be deterred and ended with some great shots on the Nikon and the iPhone. The sun was playing peak-a-boo with the clouds creating a spectacular rainbow and we hopped around somewhat precariously on the rocks waiting for just the right shot. Well worth the visit!
